Setup: the one place to start

Setup (/setup) is where a site owner starts. It shows live whether each step is done for the current project and environment, and marks the next one.

StepDone whenWhere it leads
Connect an appAn app sent traces or a heartbeat in the last 7 daysThe Connect an app tab, then Agents once it is done
Protect itAn app’s runtime protection reported in the last 30 days, or a Shield360 Edge instance is checking inWAF & RASP (/waf-rasp). See runtime protection and Edge
Install the collectorAn enrolled computer checked in todayThe Install the collector tab, then Deployment settings once one is enrolled

The collector is only needed to see the AI tools your people use. An app does not need it.

A step shows Could not be checked when your role does not reach that area or the check failed. It is never reported as not done.

  • Connect an app (/setup?tab=connect): name the app, pick its runtime and where it runs, create a key bound to this environment, paste the configuration, and watch the live check.
  • Other ways to connect (/setup?tab=guides): every setup guide, filtered by stage, with your Shield360 address in each snippet.
  • Install the collector (/setup?tab=collector): enroll a computer with an install key.
  • Logs and servers (/setup?tab=logs): turn on an app’s logs, and send server metrics and log files.

Install keys, the browser extension, proxies and what is collected are configuration, so they stay in Settings → Deployment (/settings/collection). Setup links there.

/connect, /getting-started and /settings/setup-guides redirect to /setup and keep their query strings.
